P0563 — System Voltage High

Powertrainhigh

The computer sees charging voltage above normal (usually over about 15–16 V).

Symptoms

  • Very bright lights
  • Bulbs blowing
  • Battery smells or gets hot

Common causes

  • Faulty voltage regulator
  • Broken alternator S (sense) wire
  • Jump-start booster left connected

How to fix

  1. Measure battery with engine running
  2. Check the alternator S wire
  3. Replace regulator / alternator if still high

Can I keep driving?

No — high voltage can damage the battery and computers.
