U0140 — Lost Communication With Body Control Module

The body computer (lights, locks, wipers, chimes) is not talking on the data wires.

Symptoms

  • Lights act strange
  • Door locks or wipers not working
  • Some meter lights missing
  • Battery drains

Common causes

  • Body ECU fuse
  • Body ECU ground
  • Water damage to body ECU
  • CAN wire fault

How to fix

  1. Check body ECU fuses
  2. Check grounds under the dash
  3. Look for water leaks near the module
  4. Check CAN wires

Can I keep driving?

Usually yes, if lights and wipers work.
